About the role
You will own AI tooling at ZeroPhase. That means building and maintaining the internal systems our team runs on: a custom ATS, CRM and sales tooling, inventory and operations systems, and whatever else the company needs that does not exist off the shelf yet. On the product side, you will integrate AI capabilities into our hardware and operational workflows where they create real leverage.
This is a builder role. You will spend most of your time writing code and shipping tools that people at ZeroPhase use every day. You are not here to evaluate vendors or write AI strategy documents. You are here to build.
You will start as a solo engineer with full ownership of the AI stack. As the role grows, everything is possible!
What you'll do
- Build and iterate on ZeroPhase's internal AI tool stack: ATS and recruiting workflows, CRM and sales pipelines, inventory and operations systems, productivity tooling.
- Design and deploy AI agents that automate repetitive internal processes and surface the right information to the right people at the right time.
- Integrate LLM APIs, vector databases, and third-party tools into coherent internal applications with real UX.
- Build product-adjacent AI capabilities: data processing pipelines, anomaly detection, operational intelligence features that touch our hardware and field deployments.
- Evaluate new models, frameworks and tooling continuously and know when to adopt and when to build.
- Maintain and improve what already exists. ZeroPhase has a growing inventory of internal tools: you will inherit them, understand them, and make them better.
- Work directly with every function in the company. You will build for recruiting, operations, engineering, and sales, which means you need to understand what each team actually needs, not just what they ask for.
What we're looking for
- Strong software engineering fundamentals. You can build a full-stack internal application from scratch and know what good code looks like.
- Hands-on experience building with LLM APIs: OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar. You have shipped something real with them, not just run the quickstart.
- Experience building and deploying AI agents: tool use, multi-step reasoning, retrieval-augmented generation. You understand the failure modes and know how to make agents reliable in production.
- A portfolio of things you have built. We do not care where: side projects, hackathons, previous jobs. Show us what you make when you have a problem and a weekend.
- Product instinct. You build tools people actually use because you understand what they need and you keep the UX simple enough that they do not need a manual.
- Comfortable working across the full stack: backend, frontend, APIs, data pipelines, deployment. You do not need to be world-class at all of them but you cannot be blocked by any of them.
- Fast. You ship, you iterate, you do not over-engineer.
Bonus: not required
- Experience with defence, hardware, or operational tech environments.
- Familiarity with RF, embedded systems, or UAV platforms.
- Prior experience spanning multiple functions, so you know what a well-run one looks like.
How the hiring process works
- Intro call. 30 minutes with our recruiting team. We'll learn about your background, and you'll learn about the mission.
- Deep dive. A working session with the founding team on a real internal tool we're building right now.
- Case study, in Munich. A visit to the office to walk through technical intricacies, in person if you can make it or over Teams if you can't.
- The offer. By now you've likely already met our CEO. This round is where we make it official: fast, transparent, and built around the mission.
